Having a MMO on consoles has been discussed for many years. And there is a rumor said Guild Wars 2 will have its console version in the future but according to a recent interview with VideoGamer, Game Designer Eric Flannum expressed the difficulties for bringing MMOs to consoles, which can be attributed to technical issues and traditional subscription fees.
"It's tough because the business model on consoles is difficult, and [because of] memory issues - MMOs tend to be huge and consoles tend to not have that much room. And so there's a lot of technical problems basically. But I think someone will come and overcome those things." Eric Flannum stated.
But when it comes to a game without a monthly subscription fee, maybe it will be much easier.
It is known that Guild Wars 2 will adopt the micro-transactional model as the original Guild Wars does. According to VideoGamer, Microsoft is said to work on a micro-transaction system for the Xbox 360, for this reason, there's still a possibility that we will see Guild Wars 2 coming to console platform someday in the future.
